SAUG January 2001 Meeting

Wireless Internet

Presented by David Diskin, InReach Internet
David will inform us about both the DSL and wireless services available through InReach. The school is using InReach wireless service at 4 Megabits/sec. to connect a number of computers to the Internet. You will have a hands-on opportunity to experience it.

There may also be a presentation of Apple's wireless networking, AirPort. If you plan to connect more than one computer to a high speed Internet service, you will need to network them. This technology can be used to connect both PCs and Macs with no wires between them to that service.

InReach Internet provides dial-up accounts as well as high speed DSL and wireless connections to the Internet in our local area, as well as email and space for a web page. InReach has many other services available for businesses. SAUG has had a relationship with InReach Internet since 1995 as a part of their Outreach Program. They have provided us with free web access, email, and web space. Currently we are part of the Group Program at InReach. This means that our members can reach the internet for a reduced rate of $17.95. If you are already using InReach, call the business office at 1-888 InReach (467-3224) to let them know you are a part of our group. Give them our ID number 170-SAUG. If you are just now registering with InReach, please use our registration code, 170-SAUG
