Tips and Tricks on MacOS X "from the horse's mouth," and Setting Up Your System for Wireless

Our Apple representative will finally be able to visit and update us on the latest and greatest about MacOS X.

Additionally, for those of you who haven't taken advantage of the Mac's AirPort wireless technology, here's your opportunity to check out how it's done. Of course, since it's a Mac, it's easy! I've been using AirPort around my home for a year, and it works flawlessly with my iBook. Even now, I'm sitting here on the sofa updating this website from my Mac completely wirelessly, not even a power cable! So, get your questions ready and join us!

1. Find Interstate 5 (I-5) on California map. It is a main North/South Interstate in California.
2. From I-5, exit on March Lane going East. Continue on March Lane 1.6 miles until you reach the traffic light at Pacific Ave.
3. At Pacific Ave.turn LEFT, and go 0.3 miles until you reach the traffic light for Delta College.
4. Turn LEFT at Delta College Entrance. The street is labeled Yoguts going East and Delta College going West.
5. As soon you turn into Delta College Entrance, bear LEFT on the Campus Drive (called Burke-Bradley in some places).
6. Continue around on Campus Drive until you reach Holt 1 Parking Lot. Turn RIGHT into Holt 1 Parking Lot.
7. As soon as you turn into Holt 1 Parking Lot, take a sharp RIGHT turn to enter Holt 2 Parking Lot.
8. Park as close to the front of the parking lot as possible, closest to the buildings.
9. Pick up a parking permit as indicated below.
10. As you walk towards the buildings, you should first enter Holt building. Go to Holt 121 which is the Microscopy Center.

To Get Parking Permit:
1. Click on the below URL and download pdf file of permit.

2. Write the day(s) of the week and the date(s) that you will be on campus in the appropriate place in the lower right part of permit.
3. After "For" write in "Microscopy Service"
4. Display the permit in your windshield.

NOTE: This does not include parking in handicapped areas. Tickets for handicapped areas are $270!!!!

More About the Workshops

These workshops are designed to give individual help with using a variety of programs and are especially intended for beginners. Topics vary with the need of the participants. There are usually enough computers for hands-on instruction. Topics include the Macintosh system, internet access, and specific software.

Please call Connie at 474-8508 before the meeting if you are interested in old Macintosh and Apple II systems or software.

Remember to bring disks if you want to copy Public Domain software or shareware.
